GDL 59 Data Logger and Wi-Fi Datalink
The GDL® 59 is a flight parameter recorder with a high-speed Wi-Fi transceiver for transmitting data collected from the G1000 for trend monitoring and maintenance planning.
Gather Precise Data
While in flight, the GDL 59 records data from the G1000 system as determined by the aircraft's manufacturer. Data logs are highly configurable and can include engine trend and exceedance data, system maintenance data, crew advisory system (CAS) messages and much more. The system can store up to two gigabytes of data for hours of flight time logging.
Transmit Reports Wirelessly
Once data has been logged, reports can be sent wirelessly through the GDL 59’s integrated 802.11g Wi-Fi transceiver. Simply park the plane within range of a Wi-Fi hotspot and use your G1000's MFD to select the data you wish to upload. When paired with a GSR 56 satellite transceiver, the GDL 59 can also send its data while in flight or out of range of a Wi-Fi connection via the Iridium satellite network (Iridium subscription required).
With the GDL 59, one hour of flight time can typically be transferred in 10 seconds or less. Aircraft maintenance technicians can then use the data they receive for monitoring the performance of their planes and planning future maintenance.
Future capabilities of the GDL 59 may include wireless flight plan upload/download, electronic maintenance and pilot logbooks, the ability to review logged dating through flyGarmin.com and much more.
